Our Services

Hold Baggage Screening Service

The ACS Hold Baggage Screening Service offers a consistent, 100% screening of baggage placed in the aircraft hold.

Sophisticated, state of the art equipment and multiple levels of comprehensive security checks enable the early identification and analysis of threats by qualified screeners.

The ACS Hold Baggage Screening Service standards and recommended practices meet the requirements of international aviation authorities such as ICAO and the Civil Aviation regulations of South Africa and destination countries.

Cargo Screening Service

The screening and transport of cargo is regulated by standards and recommended practices of international aviation authorities such as ICAO and the Civil Aviation regulations of South Africa and destination countries.

Our Cargo Screening Service has ‘green status’ to transport cargo to multiple regions and countries.

CSS also meets the European Union (EU) ACC3 standard for the screening and validation of cargo entering the EU, enabling ACS to screen cargo and mail bound for destinations within the EU.

To protect passengers and safeguard cargo transported by air, we perform a thorough security check of all cargo we are contracted to screen before it is loaded on the aircraft.

Baggage Reconciliation Service

The ACS Baggage Reconciliation Service is a fully automated system that tracks checked-in baggage from departure to destination, enabling the efficient reconciliation of passengers to baggage.

By delivering real-time data to ground-handlers, airlines and airports, the service helps to:

  • Scan checked-in baggage
  • Allocate baggage to a flight and passenger
  • Reduce instances of lost and mishandled bags
  • Prevent short-shipped and misrouted baggage
  • Avoid flight delays attributed to baggage handling
  • Enhance passenger safety and flight security
  • Ensure compliance with international security regulations

    Check-in Service

Our comprehensive check-in service provide airlines with access to the latest, most efficient systems for:
Scanning identity documents and passports, Seat selection and
    Checking in passengers and baggage.

    Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE)
CUTE has been implemented to ensure efficient utilisation of check-in equipment at an airport by multiple airlines off a common platform.  It is used by check-in agents to facilitate check-in for flights at a counter.

    Benefits
In 2006 self‐service kiosks were introduced at the 9 ACSA airports. Over the years the kiosks have had some hardware and software improvements and functionality additions, but the kiosk largely remained a check‐in and boarding pass device. During a process of consultation with airlines it was agreed that additional self‐service kiosks be requested and expand the functionality.

There are three types of kiosks in place

    • CUSS kiosks
    • Web kiosks

    Common Use Self Service (CUSS)
CUSS allows passengers to check in at self-service kiosks, without assistance from airline or airport personnel.

    Benefits
The primary function of the CUSS kiosk is to provide check‐in facility for the passenger. This could include seat selection or changes, or similar functionality allowed by the airline. The kiosk has a baggage tag printer functionality for printing of baggage tags prior to moving to a bag drop counter. CUSS kiosks communicate to the DCS via existing CUTE connectivity.

The benefits of CUSS kiosk include the following

    • Touch screen monitor
    • Full page document scanner
    • Passport Reader
    • Bar code scanner
    • Card reader
    • Boarding Pass Printer (BPP) / General Purpose Printer (GPP)
    • Baggage Tag Printers (BTP)
